This page lists various words and phrases that are a part of the
world of Tamriel. The words are listed alphabetically and contain a brief description along
with possibly a picture or how to pronounce it. If you can't find the word you're looking for,
it may be listed under a certain topic under the Main Page.

- Baranth Do
- Local holuda of the Iliac Bay region is a New Years festival, although most likely, it has been moved
from its original date to correspond with the notion of the year defined in Tamriel.
- Barbarian
- Barbarians hail from the wastelands in the land of Tamriel where
only the best and strongest survive, making them savage warriors and
formidable opponents. Although not intelligent by standard measures
one cannot underestimate their skill in battle. Barbarians have
among the highest strengths and endurances in Tamriel.
- Bard
- Bards are often noted as being the Jack of All Trades, and Master
of None, which is very true. They are part thief, part warrior, and
part magic user, using each class to thier advantage when it suits
them. They are also know for composing songs and peotry and are
responsible for much of recorded history and legends.
- Battle Axe
- A heavy, two-handed, chopping weapon that produces excellent damage.
- Battle of Duncreigh Bridge
- The battle in 1E 1427 between Anticlere and the neighbouring hamlet of Sensford. It is celebrated each year by Anticlere
by a march down Sensford's main street, usually resulting in many injuries and sometimes brief wars by the
towns knightly orders. The battle ultimately acheived nothing as both sides continue to boast of their own
antique lineage.
- Battle of Glennumbria Moors
- A battle against the Alessian Order and Elves of High Rock. The Order was crushed but the battle
so weakened the Elven power in High Rock that they were driven from the province 20 years later, around
1E 500.
- Battle of Hunding Bay
- A battle in the Bay of Hunding near the island of Stros M'kai where the forces of the Crowns lead by Prince
A'tor were defeated by the combined forces of the Forebears and Tiber Septim.
- Battle of the Bluffs
- A battle of the War of Betony, won by Daggerfall.
- Battlemage
- Those who study the powerful combination of destructive magic and
combat. Battlemages usually focus their study soley on the School of
Destruction in combination with one or more weapon skills. While most
often used on the battlefield, they have proven themselves to be formidable
elite guards for royalty. As with all magic users, a high intelligence
and willpower are a must. The battemage originatedas an elite troop in
the Cyro-Nordic tribes of the Nibenay Valley, the Nibenese, in Cyrodiil
during the Elven harassment of the 1E. The battlemages were the ruling
aristocracy in Eastern Cryodiil until upset by the Alessian Doctrines.
- Battlespire
- A testing grounds in a pocket universe for the elite battlemages. Was
taken over by Daedra Lord Dagon in ??? who was eventually defeated by an
unamed battlemage.
- The first in the Elder Scrolls:Legends series,
a slight offshoot from the true RPG. For more info jump to

- Block
- This combat skill allows you to use shields to block any melee attack. A successful block removes all damage
from the attack. The skill is governed by the user's agility (MW Manual).
- Blunt Weapon
- This combat skill makes you more effectice when using heavy bashing weapons like maces, hammers, clubs, or staves.
The skill is governed by the user's strength (MW Manual).
- Boiche
- Another name for a Wood Elf.
- Book of Life
- Name for a census book kept by the Nords in the early 1st era.
For example, listed on page 933 of the Book is this entry:
North of the Highest bluffs, south of the moors, west of the
hills, and east of the sea is called DAGGERFALL. 110 men, 93 women, 13 children
under 8 years of age, 58 cows, 7 bulls, 63 chickens, 11 cocks, 38 hogs live here.
- boot
- The foot and lower leg armor piece.
- Bosmer
- Another name for a Wood Elf (or Bosmeri).
- Bow
- Marksman weapons that come in a number of varieties and fires arrows. Typical bows include the Short and Long Bow.
- Bracer
- The wrist armor piece.
- Breton
- Those who make their home in the province of High Rock. Bretons are
a non-descript race with average features, except for their incredibly high
resistance to magic (which no one knows why). Very intelligent and willful
Bretons typical find themselves quite adept at the ways of magic, more so
than any other race of Tamriel.
- Bretons feel an inborn, instinctive bond with the mercurial forces of magic and the supernatural. Manu great
sorcerers have come from the home province of High Rock, and in addition to their quick and perceptive grasp of
spellcraft, enchantment, and alchemy, even the humblest of Bretons boast a high resistance to destructive and
dominated magical energies (MW Manual).
- Broadsword
- A slashing, mass-produced, double-edged long blade popular among the Legions (MW Manual).
- Burglar
- The Burglar is the master of breaking and entering in the criminal realm.
A good agility and brains are critical for opening complex locks as well as
for a timely escape.
