Ogre[edit]

An ogre

Ogres are a race of large humanoid goblin-ken, that are found throughout Tamriel. Best known for their great strength and foul smell, they are commonly perceived as dim-witted brutes. Ogres have steely blue or greenish skin, pronounced teeth, and tapered ears. Their large physique often garners comparisons to Giants. It has been hypothesized that their grey-blue coloration is a method of camouflage against the sky, although this speculation is considered to have been debunked. They often have shaggy white or black hair, which can cover the entire body of those found in colder regions. The Ogres in Wrothgar are sometimes called Snow Ogres, and are differentiated from common Ogres by their thick white fur. Some of these ogres use powerful frost magic.

Ogrim[edit]

An ogrim

Ogrim (also known as Clannfear Daddies) are large dim-witted Daedra with very little intellect, which are described in appearance as "fat-faced ogres". They are chiefly sent into the mortal world to menace living things for the amusement of Daedra Princes. Ogrim are primarily associated with Malacath. They are sturdy and powerful, and can regenerate health by pounding their chests. For clothing, most Ogrim wear minimal garments such as loincloths, though the higher-ranking ones are often suited in armor. Due to their immense weight, belly spoons made from curved piece of obsidian are used in easing Ogrim torsos into armor or through narrow doorways. Tooth sharpener picks are made specifically for cleaning out the stubborn crevices between ogrim teeth. Many of them wear jewelry including nipple piercings, nipple caps adorned with copper, and nose shackles etched with jagged runes that signify an Ogrim's obeisance to a Daedric master.

Every Daedric Prince is said to possess legions of Ogrims among other common Lesser Daedra. Sanguine uses ogrim as bouncers for his parties. Ogrim are also known to serve Molag Bal and Mephala. Molag Bal often employs them as guards and torturers. The lumbering ogrim is cruel, often entertaining itself by tormenting its underlings. Ogrim Toss is a game where a crude ball is kicked around by ogrims, though it is unclear if it has any actual rules.

Omen[edit]

The Omen of Blood

Omens are powerful, malicious Daedra who seek to spread chaos on Nirn. They are among the most powerful minions of the Daedric Prince Vaermina, and can be found in her realm Quagmire. Omens enter people's dreams to influence them, driving them to make decisions they would otherwise consider poor or objectable. Their influence persists in the waking world, and an Omen may whisper to its victim or torment them by showing them horrible visions or forcing them to relive their worst memories. An Omen's victim may be driven to murder those they love, incite bloody conflict, or betray those close to them. They dwell in dreams, and must be slain in their victim's dream in order to eject them from Nirn forever. Followers of Vaermina believe that Omens, are directly sent by the Daedric Prince herself. These Omens have the power to ordain death among Vaermina's devotees, with the belief that those who excel in serving the cult may be reborn in Quagmire, the realm of Vaermina, to further aid Omens in their "holy" work.

The exact nature of Omens is unknown. They can assume various shapes such as Watchers, Dremora, Wispmothers, as well as disguise themselves as mortals. Vaermina named her mortal lover Galthis the Omen of a Hundred Prophecies. Although he was originally a Breton, he assumed the form of a monstrosity resembling a Bone Colossus. Despite being an Omen, his nature was different from those who are proper Daedra.

Among the most elusive of these Omens is the Omen of Deception, whose true name is Ykal. He seeks to wreak havoc by spreading lies and driving Nirn's inhabitants to distrust and betrayal. Ykal can be summoned by cultists who perform a specific ritual. It involves lighting four braziers, slaying a human sacrifice, and speaking his true name; the caveat is that the sacrifice must be dead when Ykal arrives, or he will be summoned in a weakened state. He was slain by the Vestige in 2E 582 after the Supernal Dreamers called him to Tamriel. The Omen of Betrayal has been encountered by mortals across Tamriel during the First and Second Eras. The inhabitants of Summerset knew it as "The Gray Sleep", the Argonians referred to it as "the Egg-Terror", and the Orcs called it "The Visiting Breton". It was also responsible for the obsessions plaguing Gavaudon and desecration of the Azura's Shrine.

Ornaug[edit]

An ornaug

Ornaugs are marine reptiles native to the reefs and littorals of the western Abecean Sea. These creatures are canine in appearance, with a crocodilian jaw and the smooth scales of a serpent. Although similar appearance to a fish, ornaugs are land-dwelling reptiles with highly developed lungs. They possess several marine adaptations, including nictitating membranes to protect their eyes in the water, nostrils that close to remain watertight, and fins to aid in swimming. Although they are fast swimmers, ornaugs lack hind flippers and are much faster on land. They do not hunt in water, but instead scavenge the shores.

Ornaugs can often be seen leaping from the water, and use their swimming ability to reach the littoral regions of new reefs and islands. Due to a lack of blubber, ornaugs have poor insulation and their range is therefore restricted to warm seas and shallows. Wild ornaugs are dangerous and will attack travelers if confronted. They are a common sight along the coasts of the Systres Archipelago.

Aurelian Osprey jewellery

Ospreys are raptor birds that hunt at sea. They are believed to embody traits such as precision, ruthlessness, and endurance. Altmer jewelry often features imagery of ospreys and is popular among wealthy mariners, who believe that wearing a likeness of the bird can provide them with the insight of a seafaring predator.[5] Ships were also named after ospreys.[6]

Owl[edit]

An owl

Owls are nocturnal birds found in Tamriel. The Owl known as Wise-Wing is associated in northern Tamriel with the god Jhunal, who is sometimes compared to Julianos.[8] As such, The owl is one of the ancient Nords' totem animals.[9] The ancient Clan Ruskahr of old Orsinium was known as the Owl Clan, and they revered snow owls.[10] A rare species known as the burrowing pixie owl lives in western Tamriel.[11] The eluvein, or hilas owl, abandons its eggs after laying them. The Altmer use the term "eluvein" to describe people who are cold-hearted or aloof.[12] Druadach Snow Owl feathers are used exclusively by the Reachfolk to fletch their arrows.[13]
