Skelos Undriel was a Bosmer Shadowmage from the Imperial City. He became a fugitive when he uncovered a plot by the Imperial Battlemage Jagar Tharn to use the ongoing War of the Bend'r-mahk as fuel to manifest the Umbra' Keth, the Shadow of Conflict. He fled to the Western Reach, a region that is bordered by the provinces of Hammerfell, High Rock, and Skyrim.

Skelos was eventually captured near the city of Azra's Crossing by bandits hired by Tharn, and taken to their lair northwest of the city. The bandits misfortune began when they subsequently pillaged Azra's Crossing, home to the Soul of Conflict, whose destiny would begin to unfold. The hero pushed the bandits out of the city, and then traced the bandits back to their lair and wiped them out. Within the lair the Hero discovered Skelos, who unveiled Jagar's plans. Together, they hatched a desperate scheme to collect the missing Star Teeth, but would discover an additional enemy, the shadowmage Pergan Asuul, who sought to power the Umbra' Keth.

The details on Skelos' fate are conflicted. Some say that after collecting five Star Teeth, Skelos sought to bind the Umbra' Keth alone, resulting in his demise. A different account states that Skelos avoided this fate, for Skelos and the Soul of Conflict eventually discovered a valuable asset to their journey, an ally, the legendary shadowmage Azra Nightwielder. Azra informed them that there was in fact seven Star Teeth and not five, and facing the Umbra' Keth without all seven would be the end of them. After recovering all seven Star Teeth, Azra's Crossing was used as a staging ground prior to the hero's descent into the Umbra' Keth's lair, the Crypt of Hearts. It was here that the hero returned to after banishing the beast, and where Skelos awaited the hero who he thanked for preventing the Umbra' Keth from possibly engulfing Hammerfell in his shadows.
