Morrowind Mod:Morrowind Modding Wiki/Adopting Tutorials and Guides

The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
Jump to: navigation, search

The first and second of Morrowind Modding Wiki's objectives is the preservation and centralization of Morrowind modding knowledge. This means adopting tutorials and guides (guides) produced by the community over the past 12 years since Morrowind was released. Before adopting a guide to the wiki, it is important to obtain the permission from the original author(s).

The Process[edit]

When a guide has been found that is not currently on the wiki. The next important step is to identify the original author. Some small amount of research may be required as many guides have been reposted over the years. Once the original author has been identified send them a PM using the following template. Make sure to replace the appropriate lines.

Hi there [original author]!

The Morrowind Modding Wiki is dedicated to the preservation, centralization, and expansion of Morrowind modding knowledge. As such I would like to ask for your permission to use [guide] on the wiki. You will of course be credited as the original author.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

[Your name]

The phrase Morrowind Modding Wiki will need to be a link to the Main Page, while [guide] will need to be a link taking the reader to the actual tutorial. It is vitally important that the above messaged is not spammed. The tutorial will also need to be added to the guides with sent requests table.

If no reply has been received a week after the message was sent, you may send this followup.

Hi there [original author]!

I am writing to followup on my request to add [guide] to the Morrowind Modding Wiki. You will of course be credited as the original author. The Morrowind Modding Wiki is dedicated to the preservation, centralization, and expansion of Morrowind modding knowledge.

If no reply has been received a week after the followup, then it should be assumed that the author is unavailable. The guide in question should not be added to the wiki.

Do not create a thread asking for permission. This is a waste of time, and it will not inform the original author(s) that they are needed.
