Problem[edit]

The keyboard and mouse stop working shortly after loading a save.

Cause - Incompatible Codecs[edit]

This problem is often caused by incompatible codecs, particularly FFDShow.

Solution: If you have FFDShow, make sure it does not affect Oblivion by unchecking Oblivion in the list of programs for audio and video. Uninstalling FFDShow works as well.

Solution: Windows XP users can try Nightmare2013's Codec Reset utility.

Solution: Users can also try installing the K-Lite Codec pack, making sure it is configured to repair broken codecs, and then make sure FFDShow does not affect Oblivion. The standard version is enough to get most of the commonly-used codecs. Most importantly, it is compatible with Oblivion.
