The mystery of the Dwarves and their sudden disappearance is so compelling that even non-scholars have been known to devote their lives—and their fortunes—to studying their history and collecting Dwemeri objects. These obsessives are known derisively as "Dwarf-Hounds."

Mzeneldt is a Dwemer ruin most likely in the southeastern Dragontail Mountains of Hammerfell. A group of Ayleids from the Meridian city of Delodiil entered the ruin in ancient times to hide a powerful weapon used against the city of Abagarlas, which worshipped Molag Bal.
The portal to Mzeneldt can be found in the Fighters Guild within your Alliance, but only during the events of the related quest.

Notes[edit]
- A Lorebook can be found in the southernmost passage. (map)
- Mzeneldt's location is a mystery, but we have some clues given during the quest The Dangerous Past:
- It may be in Hammerfell, in the "southern" Dragontail Mountains, according to Doshia's journal, whose translation is described by Guildmaster Sees-All-Colors. There are two long branches of those mountains in Hammerfell, one extending south and west (parallel to the Bjoulsae River) and the other extending south and east (between Craglorn and Skyrim).
- It is as far away from the Heartlands region of central Cyrodiil as the Ayleids could get after a week of travel away from Abagarlas, according to Curano's journal. Considering the language of the journal, describing escaping dangerous foes such as undead, it seems most likely they were on foot, not on mounts or using magical travel. That places the group more likely in the eastern branch of the Dragontail Mountains, rather than the western branch.
- It took weeks of searching in "the eastern peaks" to find, according to Lanath's journal. This corroborates the more-likely hypothesis that they fled into the line of peaks between Craglorn and Skyrim.
- In addition, the western Dragontail Mountains are in Bangkorai, which was under the control of the Bretons, not the Redguards, during the events of this quest, so that western branch would not have (at that moment in time) been considered part of Hammerfell. This is also reinforced in High King Emeric's dialogue at the beginning of the quest Striking Back. More evidence that its location is more likely to be somewhere in the eastern branch of the mountains, along the border between Craglorn and Skyrim.
