Hjortyn Silver-Tongue, the Empire's Minister of House Redoran Affairs in Morrowind

Hjortyn Silver-Tongue is a Nord female who is the Empire's appointed Minister of House Redoran Affairs. Her office is in the west wing of the Curia, in Old Ebonheart's Ebon Tower. At the time of your arrival she is caught between two opposing arguments over the territory of Uld Vraech, settled by Nords, but claimed by House Redoran. Svarti Two-Knives represents the Nord viewpoint, and can be found in a nearby room, while Maalna Balur represents Great House Redoran.

Dialogue[edit]

  • Uld Vraech: "Uld Vraech is located in northwestern Morrowind and is a source of much grief. Both the Dark Elves and the Nords have a legitimate claim over the region. The Dark Elves of Redoran often argue that they have the historical right to the land. Indeed, their ancestors have been in this province since the Mythic Era. The Nords, on the other hand, would argue that theirs is the right of conquest. Their ancestors fought for the land and succeeded. In the eyes of the law both viewpoints are valid, no?"
  • (cont.) "There is, however, a third viewpoint to the issue which takes the precedence. That of the Empire. Regardless of whom you support, the Nords or the Redoran, both parties are still Imperial subjects. It is within the interest of us all that the Empire remain unfractured. Sudden annexation of Uld Vraech into the Skyrim province or the expulsion of the Nord populace would both be unnecessarily disruptive to the Emperor's peace. For the common good small injustices must sometimes be endured."
  • (cont.) "Of course the Empire doesn't just stand idly by. I try my best to act as a mediator between House Redoran and the Nords, but... you've met the representatives they've sent, haven't you? Svarti Two-Knives and Maalna Balur. Both of them are quite adamant that their people are being wronged and both accuse me of playing favorites. But at least for now they've made a truce, even if it's a fragile one."
